Naming Ceremonies

A naming ceremony is an opportunity to welcome a child of any age into your family, to celebrate their name and to confirm their identity.  It is about bringing together family and friends to celebrate the life of the child and their place in all of your lives.

As part of the ceremony parents can make promises to the child and it is also an ideal time to appoint guide parents/guardians/god parents who can help to shape their future life.  Other adults that will play a significant part in the child’s life can also make a commitment to raising the child.

This type of ceremony also works very well for bringing together blended families and for welcoming adoptive children into the family.

The ceremony provides the opportunity to have a bespoke, unique experience at any venue of your choice.  You can choose readings, poems, personal promises and even write your own pledges should you wish to.  We can discuss your individual wishes and ensure they become the delicate fabric of your ceremony.

We can discuss ideas on how to make your ceremony individual to you as well as harnessing your own ideas and desires.  Religious elements may be included if that is your wish such as:-

  • Goddess Naming Ceremony

  • Naam Karan Naming Ceremony (Sikh)

  • Namkaran Naming Ceremony (Hindu)

  • Wicca Naming Ceremony

  • Buddhist Naming Ceremony

  • Zeved Habat/Brit Milah Ceremony (Jewish)

  • Japanese Naming Day

Once you have completed our booking form and secured the date in our diary we can provide more information on what you could include in your naming ceremony.

“The naming ceremony for Jack was a day we shall remember for the rest of our lives.  We all felt very special and happy to have such a personalised service”

A name is very important. It distinguishes us from others and gives us a sense of belonging in our family and community
